For a while, “poses” were such a huge trend in photography. Especially for couples photos. But, what if we’ve found a new way of posing subjects that maintains authenticity?

When planning couple’s photoshoots lately, whether it be for their anniversary, engagement, or just for fun, I’ve been starting with “what do you like to do for fun?”. Usually, most couples will excitedly reply with the places they bring their dog to on the weekends, hiking locations they frequent, special little restaurants and bars that remind them of their first dates… the list goes on.

From there, we can go based on the vibes of our location or idea and find outfits that go with it. Don’t worry about dressing up if that isn’t your thing! I’ve had plenty of couples go casual for engagement photos. I’ve even taken engagement photos in clients’ houses before! :).

I think this could be a great option for camera shy folks. Let’s plan an activity so you don’t feel like you are starting into a lens for every photo!
