Exploring the Bonneville salt flats

I still remember the first time I saw a TikTok about the bonneville salt flats located just on the border of Utah and Nevada. It is a huge, vast open plain and the ground is solid packed salt. When dry, it forms these lines creating the most minimal yet ethereal and organic pattern for miles. Needless to say, it is incredibly picturesque and would be such a good bucket list item for all of my adventurous clients that want to make the 2+ hour drive from Salt Lake!

As we were about to pull over at the tiny rest stop, our gps re routed us to go all the way to the end of the flats. When it’s dry, you can drive to the end and drive onto the flats. However, we had previously gotten rain and we knew we would not be able to take our rental car onto the flats that day. Quickly, we made a u-turn and got back to the rest stop just in time for sunset photos!
